3 Myths About Acne

Acne affects more than 50 million people in America and in spite of a number of treatments available people choose to manage that affliction by themselves. Unfortunately most people look for an advice on social media from those who share what they use on their skin. Most of the time the recommendation is repeated over and over as it is  endorsed by celebrities that market that product or solution as the ultimate.

There are many causes of acne but most of them will be exacerbated by stress. Natural acne solutions such as diet and special vitamins such as selenium, zinc, vit A and probiotics help in healing process and can help to stave off the acne , but by improving the skin condition towards more permeable or able to breathe is found to be the most successful method of relieving the clogging of the pores which leads to breakouts.

Myth #1

Most of acne sufferers believe a deep exfoliation with either the electric brush or the griddy pastes will reduce the breakouts where in fact in does the opposite. I agree that it makes you feel good for a couple hours but then the automatic healing response happens and the irritated skin is being flooded by your own oils to mend the redness and irritation. The result: oily, sticky skin.

 Myth#2

As our young skin produces enough oils we don't necessarily look for moisturizers to apply to it daily. Until the age of 25 years old you probably can forego this step unless you develop the skin condition acne. It doesn't matter what age you are at that point you need to start using a cleanser and moisturizer twice a day to help the skin to breathe. Don't choose the products yourself as you may create more problems than you started with. Ask for an advise of a skin care professional or your dermatologist.

Myth#3

At some point you may give up on trying to help your skin and start withdrawing from social activities because you are embarrassed to be in public. Your self esteem suffers and it affects your school work and your job.
There may be many things you have tried and those did not prove to be effective but I believe in natural healing and understanding your body before treating acne on your own. Acne can be caused by simple things such as touching the skin with your hands while out and about, touching the skin with the phone that is laden with bacteria, squeezing the zits and creating even more infection that you started with.

In addition to stress and poor diet that contributes to acne flair ups, you maybe using a wrong shampoo and wrong skin care products that creates the vicious cycle of oily skin and too dry skin.
